"Measure not the work until the day's out and the labor done."

- Elizabeth Barrett Browning

(from Criminal Minds, 1x12, "What Fresh Hell?")

It's been a good, if unproductive, weekend. Note to self: Home and family are always good for the soul. It's absurd how much I can miss my parents and sister in such a short period of time -- and it's always amplified during particularly stressful // busy // un-fun times.

The menu at the neighbor's house got changed to all South Indian fare sans tacos, but that's ok, because it was deliciously authentic and beautiful and was accompanied by mango lassi, which is only one of the best [spring/summer] beverages in the world! Yumm.

Today was a busy day, spent mostly in or around Baltimore. My mom and I drove out to UMB to meet up with Elizabeth. I was a liiitle anxious because in her email she said something to the effect of, she's not too talkative and prefers a quiet and clean apartment. This isn't a bad thing, and wouldn't mean we couldn't be friends or aptmates, but I wasn't sure if she looked for that same quality in an aptmate. I mean, I am also very much a neat freak, and prefer quiet in the apartment, and would never (yes, I can say this with much authority) throw rowdy drunken parties. BUT, I am also a very talkative person a lot of the time. It's one of the reasons I would prefer to live with someone, so that I have someone to talk to when the need arises. Not that I'd talk her ear off and never stop, but every now and then, you know? And I wasn't sure if she'd be receptive to that.

Long story short, turns out she's something of a chatterbox, too. *grin* She talked wayy more than I did today, but that's probably because I was the one with the questions and she the one with the answers. Also because she was avoiding exam studying. It's probably not the norm, but it at least seems she'd be cool with me being talkative, too. We didn't actually talk as much about living together-related stuff, but more about her impressions after her first year at Maryland, advice, etc. She LOVES it there, which bodes well. She also gave us a tour of the anatomy lab and classrooms and such. I'd seen it all before, but my mom hadn't, and she was actually very intrigued and curious rather than grossed out. It was a good two hours all around -- very informative, friendly, fun, etc. We're going to keep in touch re: apartment-related stuff, but it looks like things might work out.

After we left there, we had a bunch of errands to run, and then my mom surprised me with a special dinner of one of my faaavorite foods, channa batura. =)))) (Rev's inspired me to include links to gorgeous foodstuffs!)

So, yeah, mostly unproductive, until I got back to Courtyards around 9:30pm tonight and an hour later finally got to work on 445 hw w/ Dinesh (sorry to keep you waiting! =x). But still a good day and weekend -- I have no complaints.

I promised more on books but I forgot them all at home, argh. Guess that'll have to wait until after the next time I go home, maybe next weekend.

In the meantime, it's long overdue that I deliver on my promise of cherry blossom pictures! The full album can be found here, but I picked out a couple of my favorites:
