Rare day as a hater

I hate:
  • Other peoples' drama over stupid stuff.
  • Alzheimer's disease
  • And while I'm at it: my Gemstone research project
God. Today was set up to be a great day, too. I was coming off a nice wave yesterday, having gotten my formal invitation to interview at Brown University (and a couple weeks ago, I got an invitation for an interview w/ the University of Maryland Medical School, so that's two, yay!). Had my 9:30 class, got done at 10:45, then was free 'til 3:30pm, at which point I had my weekly meeting with the pre-med advisor for the newsletter I work on with another student for her. I absolutely love the pre-med advising office on campus. I've been working with them for a year now, and they are some of the coolest people I know.

Had a really fun hour-long meeting (liberally interspersed with random conversations, arguments about football, etc.), then went out for coffee w/ the office's graduate assistant 'til about 5:20pm. Then, high-tailed it back to my apartment to change into business casual for a business school event. We had the CEO of The Washington Post (only one of the BEST national, and even international, papers ever), Don Graham, come speak, which was great. It's always dangerous for me to listen to journalism-affiliated people speak, especially if they're inspiring, because I was almost a journalism major, and could still potentially see myself as a medical journalist in the future. Who knows? Anyway.

Yea, after that, phonecall w/ my parents ... things with my grandfather are getting worse (he's in the later stages of Alzheimer's, and is consequently getting increasingly difficult to handle / look after). We refuse to put him in a nursing home, which severely limits our options on courses of action.I also got my rejection e-mail from Boston University today... meh.

I rarely EVER hate -- I generally on principle am against hating. But today was kind of ridiculous. Even great TV shows and hanging out with my friends hasn't completely pushed it out of my mind yet. So, I'm just going to bed. I quit for the day, though it's a useless protest now that it's already 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Today = F.A.I.L.
