Summer's still been fairly uneventful; I'll just skip right into the breakdown. Maybe at some later point I'll put up something slightly more creative, or at least thoughtful... hm. Maybe. =P
Memorial Day itself was lowkey. My parents were out running errands, so I was just @ home chilling w/ my sister. She, of course, had a lot of work to do, so I tried to give productivity a try, too, by working on my AMCAS app. Fun stuff...
I started back at the lab last Tuesday, for the rest of the week. It was a pretty boring week; everyone else working on campus this summer was still out of the state/country (in Florida, France, etc.). Nothing of import there, either. I did keep up w/ the Britain's Got Talent semifinals online -- some of those acts were awesome. Another show I got hooked on once I got home was Dance India Dance. Memorial Day weekend was the last round before the finals (w/ four finalists). Again, wow. They have 3 choreographers as judges -- Terrence Lewis is by far the best and fairest. I wish I were that talented at something. Dancing, maybe. I would love to be able to dance like some of those dancers.
Saturday morning, one of our neighbors, Kamal uncle, dropped by w/ his 1.25-year-old daughter Gaargi. I haven't seen her in months! She's gotten quite a bit bigger, though she's just as reticient.
The DID finals were on Saturday, but I had to record 'em, because I was out all day w/ the 'rents running errands and visiting one of their friends and whatnot. It was nice spending the day with them =) Found out when I got back that Salman won :( I guess it wasn't that bad -- he's pretty good, just not quite as versatile as two of the other dancers. But, girls are often more likely to vote for a hot guy than a super-talented girl. That may or may not have been the case here, who knows? Alisha did get 2nd place, though =D
I made butter chicken Saturday night, which was delicious, if I do say so myself. Another one of Papa's good friends swung by for dinner, and he showed us pictures of his granddaughter, who is adorable!
Sunday was another stay-at-home day. Mama's friend, Bharat uncle, stopped by for a little bit to check up on her; she hasn't been doing so well lately.
Back to work on Monday, yay! Vlad got back from his week of wind surfing w/ quite a tan. He still needs a nickname. Hm. My summer class started -- MUSC205: History of Popular Music. It fills my HA, plus it expands my cultural knowledge base. We started w/ music from the 1950s, with artists like Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, and B.B. King. I'm loving it so far. Class is from 10am-12:30pm. Afterward, I met TQ for lunch; she's back from France!! =)
Monday afternoon, once I got back to Bville by bus, I stopped by Giant to grab some breakfast stuff. Mama picked me up and dropped me off at the library, finally. Been trying to get there for the past week and a half. I picked up a few movies -- 1971, The English Patient, Transformers, and Collateral. I've seen the latter two, but not the former two. I wanted to re-watch Transformers b/c I don't remember much of it, and is coming out soon. Transformers 2. As for Collateral, I just like it =D I also got a few books: Broken Verses and Burnt Shadows by Kamila Shamsie, and Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. I figured since I watched the movie for that last one two weeks ago, I should actually read the book. I'm about one-fourth of the way through, and so far it's pretty good.
Tuesday = boring; class, then work, where I made plates and grew cells. Ian is awesome, though! He gave me ~half of the music from my class listening list, which is a lot of songs, somewhere on the order of 80. =O
Anddddd that's where we're at. Too early to write about Wednesday =P So I'll leave it at that for now. Ciao!
Fun fact: Scuttlebutt = Marine term for water cooler gossip
